A lot of people presume that my job is to totally freeze a person’s face… well, you will be pleased to know that the majority of my clients like the more natural, subtle look that you can achieve with Botox treatments.
Another common question I get is ‘will I look like Lesley Ash?’. This was a celebrity who had permanent filler injected into her lips. As a result she is now stuck with this in her lip area for life. The treatment Lesley had was to enhance the lips with permanent filler.
The fillers that I use are semi-permanent, and I can actually reverse the effect by injecting a medication called Hyalase, to completely disperse the filler, if the client no longer wanted filler in their lips/cheeks etc.
Not that I have ever had to do this, as the look I like to go for is very subtle but it’s nice to know that nothing is permanent and can be reversed if needed.
I like to look at the person as an individual, so from a holistic view. Their lifestyle, what is their nutrition like etc? Anyone reading this who has had treatments of any kind, will know how honest I am and how I quite often tell people that they ‘don’t need Botox’ as opposed to what they do need.
After the initial consultation I explain that going ‘Wrinkle free / Frozen look’ can actually make you look older than you really are. But, it is all personal choice and down to the individual on how they wish to look. I just advise on different looks that be achieved with Botox.
Can you see how obvious this is that she has had treatment?
In the past, clients were more focused on the effect that lines made on the face cosmetically, but now increasingly more clients are becoming concerned at the first impression they portray when meeting people.
A strong deep frown line (vertical line(s) between the eyebrows) is commonly associated with an angry individual.
Though the cause of the line is due to frowning constantly, it implies that the individual is an angry or cross person. It can also be a sign that they wear glasses or have strained a lot – normally from being quite sporty as a child or heavily into exercise as an adult.
Some people have a natural habit of contracting these muscles even when they’re in a good mood, when they’re writing, studying or doing anything that requires extra concentration.
Apparently I stick my tongue out when concentrating! Can’t fix this with Botox though!
When any expression is carried out repetitively it becomes engraved in the skin which is due to repetitive contractions.
Did you know that your nutrition and the position which you sleep can also have a huge effect on your wrinkles. I’ll be writing about this in next week’s blog so look out for that.
I have many professionals now walking through my door asking for the more natural look. A look which I try to promote to all my clients, as this allows them to express, smile etc. I have Botox myself but I still keep some lines and movement on my face as I never want to have ‘the look of Botox. I am really open about all the treatments I have had – Botox, cheek and lip fillers, but less is definitely more!
How many celebrities do we see on television that have this fake plastic look? They just don’t look very attractive and although what might seem attractive to one person is different to another, I feel that having treatment to enhance your look and not change your facial features, is much more pleasing to the eye than looking plastic fantastic!
