What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injected into the skin and used for facial aesthetic treatments. They are designed to effectively reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles, create volume, contour and to revitalise the skin.
Dermal fillers are based on Hyaluronic acid, which sounds awful when you say this to clients as they hear the word acid and look at you with big open eyes and a jaw to the floor. But it’s a substance that already exists in your body.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. It contains sugar molecules that exist naturally in almost all living organisms. It binds water and acts as a lubricant and shock absorber in movable parts of the body such as joints. It is also important for regulating water balance in the skin and transporting nutrients.
Dermal Fillers work by boosting the skins own supply of Hyaluronic acid, working with your own cells to boost the HA already in your skins system. They also revitalise and add volume to your skin giving you that more natural and youthful appearance.
Fillers don’t affect your facial expression and they are not permanent. If you choose to discontinue your treatment, then your lines will begin to re appear again over time. As your face naturally changes, the use of dermal fillers allows you to control your looks subtly as you age.
Dermal fillers can also be used to provide better definition to certain features and are most commonly used to soften the lines around the mouth, create plumper lips for a pretty pout or raise the cheekbones, which restore the natural contours of the face.

Frown Lines – The ‘ l l ‘ between your eyebrows can be softened
Periorbital Lines – Also known as crows feet can be reduced and softened
Bridge of the nose – To soften the appearance of bumps
Cheekbones – To regain the full youthfulness of a young face and help accentuate the cheekbones.
Nasiolabial folds – The lines from the nose to the corner of the mouth (also known as laughter lines) can be the most noticeable of all the lines on your face. Smoothing this area will leave you looking and feeling instantly younger and the results are truly impressive.
Perioral Lines – Sometimes called the smokers’ lines, these can also be hereditary. These tell-tale lines can be easily erased or softened to restore that smooth youthful look across the top of your lips.
Lips and Vermillion border – The border of your lips diminishes as you age – often making women that wear lipsticks and glosses feel very conscious of this area. Subtle use of fillers can restore definition and add fullness to the lips area with no risk of the dreaded ‘trout pout’!
Marionette lines – These are the lines from the corner of your mouth to your jaw, and can give a droopy appearance. Treating this area can instantly lift the lower part of your face and give you a more cheerful expression.
Backs of the hands and décolletage – One of the tell-tale signs of ageing is dryness and creping of the skin on the backs of hands and the décolletage. Fillers can smooth and soften these areas, knocking years off your age.

What’s the difference between Dermal Fillers and BOTOX®?
The Juvéderm® range of products mimics the hydrating and lifting effect of your skin’s natural hyaluronic acid (HA), which keeps the skin hydrated and elastic. It fills in and smoothes away facial lines and acne scars, other skin contour deficiencies, and lost volume.
The most appropriate lines to treat with the Juvéderm® range of products are those that are described as static – this means the deep facial lines you can see when your face is still. Static lines are due to lack of elasticity of the skin caused by sun damage, smoking, and unfortunately genetics. Wrinkle-relaxing treatments work in a targeted way to relax the tiny dynamic muscles that cause frown lines, smoothing out wrinkles for 4 months or longer.
Which Dermal Fillers are used at The Green Room?
I have used a variety of Dermal Fillers but highly recommend Juvéderm® injections. The product is the only HA filler and FDA approved to last upto one year with just one treatment.
Juvéderm® recently carried out a private study who reported that 97% of clients who had received treatment with this product alone were considered excellent or good.
Juvéderm® range also uniquely contains 0.3% Lidocaine (local anesthetic) making the injection process far more comfortable for the client as this gently numbs the area of injection, allowing the client to experience a much more comfortable procedure.
It really is the smoothest gel that I have used in clinic and this is due to its unique manufacturing process of hylacross as it creates a smooth gel that flows easily into the skin, making it easy for me to inject and more comfortable for the client.

When will I see results?
Results can be seen immediately and continue to improve for upto 2 weeks post treatment. A single treatment can last anywhere from 7 months to a year.
Photographs are taken before, immediately afterwards and 2 weeks post treatment at your follow up appointment.
These photos will not be used unless full permission is given verbally and written in a signed agreement. These photographs will be mailed out to your email address provided at consultation.
What are the side effects?
Juvéderm® is generally well tolerated. Most side effects are mild to moderate in nature and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include redness, small swelling at site of injection, tenderness, bruising and small lumps.
As with all skin injections, there is a risk of infection but the area is thoroughly cleaned prior to treatment with an alcohol based cleanser to reduce the risk of any irritation or infection at the site of injection.
