The Green Room offering Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) Botox treatments in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and Ringwood
What is Hyperhidrosis and what treatments are available?
Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating which is a condition that affects around 1% of the population. Constant excess sweating makes it difficult to carry out many normal everyday activities and, whilst not posing a serious threat to health, Hyperhidrosis can cause serious skin irritation, inflammation and many patients tell of the embarrassment and negative impact it has on their quality of life. It can also be an embarrassment and quite distressing to have large damp patches on clothing. Many come to me, desperate to find a solution to the problem.
Luckily, there is a quick and simple treatment available using a well known product called Botox ®. Often used to treat lines and wrinkles on the face, Botox ® will effectively prevent sweat glands in the underarm area from producing excess sweat for up to eight months.
What should I expect from a Hyperhidrosis Treatment using Botox?
The procedure takes about 30 minutes and may cause some brief discomfort, but is usually easily tolerated. An extremely fine, short needle is used to inject the Botox into the underarm area, and you should get effective results from your treatment after 3-5 days. Botox ® is a purified protein derivative of Botulinum Toxin Type A and prevents Hyperhidrosis by blocking the chemical messages to the sweat glands, to reduce the amount of sweat produced.
How will my treatment be administered and who will do it?
Hyperhidrosis treatments are carried out by myself, Rebecca Green. I am dedicated to safe practice and a specialist in this field. After treatment you may notice some slight redness and swelling, but this tends to be minimal and most patients can return to normal activity immediately afterwards. I will advise you about your post treatment care and will give you an advice leaflet to take home with you.
Is it safe to use Botox?
All cosmetic treatments are elective and you should know about the safety of the treatments as well as the benefits. Prior to your Botox treatment you will be fully informed about what’s involved in your treatment plan, and a full medical history will be taken to ensure this treatment is both appropriate and safe for you.
