Feeling Under The Weather?
Cold remedies are almost as common as the common cold, but are they effective?
Nothing can cure a cold, but there are some remedies that might help ease your symptoms and keep you from feeling so miserable.
Here’s a look at some common cold remedies to speed up your recovery and keep the cold away!
Arbonne Herbal Tea, Citrus or Pomegranate Fizz Stick, with a stick of Cinnamon and a slice of lemon.
If you catch a cold, you can expect to be sick for 7-10 days. That doesn’t mean you have to be miserable. Besides getting enough rest and hydration and these remedies might help you feel better:
- Stay hydrated. Water – warm lemon water with honey helps loosen congestion and prevents dehydration. Add a hydration sachet to your water bottle as these contain electrolytes. (see info below)
- Avoid alcohol, coffee and caffeinated sodas, which can make dehydration worse.
- Rest. Your body needs to heal. Turn off the phone, step away from the lap top. Set your alarm to go off at 9.30pm.. start getting ready for bed. Read a book and get in night time sleepy mode! It really helps. If your favourite TV programme is a must to watch then record it and chill out on your day off and have a back to back session of catching up in your favourite programmes!
- Soothe a sore throat. Gargle warm soluble paracetamol. It gets in the system quicker and has a better effect than a tablet. If you can’t stand the taste then try Tesco’s own! It’s got a sweeter taste to it.
Orange citrus fizz. – 1 orange, sliced. 2 citrus fizz sticks, 3 ice cubes. Can also be made hot.
This was really easy to make, I roasted two small sweet potatoes (you could use one medium), peeled off the skin when they were cooked and whizzed them up in a blender with 1/4 can (100ml/3/4 cup) coconut milk, 1/2 pint of vegetable stock, 1 tsp smoked paprika, 1/4 teaspoon chilli flakes and 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg. A perfect portion for one person.
Just add more of each ingredient if making more for the the family!
