The Green Room UK offering Chemical Skin Peels – Bournemouth, Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire
Chemical Skin Peels are a method of exfoliation, helping to give a brighter and fresher appearance to the skin. They can also help to reduce the signs of ageing, treat acne, eliminate blemishes and reduce fine lines and wrinkles, which helps to create healthier, firmer looking skin, without the need for surgery.
As we get older, the metabolic rate of the skin slows down and it takes longer to renew itself. Skin becomes thicker, duller looking and drier as our collagen production and oil glands become less active. Exfoliation is essential in helping skin to renew itself, take the dead layers away and make it more receptive to skincare products.
Many clients opt to have Skin Peels as a regular facial treatment due to the amazing improvements seen on their skin. Relaxing facials are great, but if you are wanting immediate results, then these are the perfect Skin Peels for you.
Please note that the Peels I offer at The Green Room in Bournemouth need to be administered by a medical professional.
All qualifications were undertaken at Harley Street in London to the highest advanced levels of training.
How do Chemical Skin Peels Work?
Chemical Skin Peels are a cosmetic procedure whereby a combination or selection of acids are applied to the outer layer of your skin to promote the growth of healthier, more youthful skin.
This is carried out by treating different layers of your skin, depending on skin type or condition.
Here in Bournemouth (& nationwide) Chemical Skin Peels are growing in popularity due to the fact that they offer a very safe and effective solution to problematic skin compared with invasive surgical procedures.
At The Green Room I offer a wide range of light to deep AHA and TCA Chemical Peels and skincare will be required to prep the skin ready for your peel.
What are AHA Skin Peels?
AHA stands for Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) which are naturally occurring carboxylic acids such as glycolic acid, a natural constituent of sugar cane juice and lactic acid, found in milk and tomato juice. This is the mildest of the Peel formulas and produces light Peels for treatment of fine wrinkles, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne.
AHA ranges from 20-70% These superficial Peels improve the skins texture and tone, and have the added bonus that there is no down time.
AHA Facial peels at The Green Room are light which means they have minimal side-effects and you won’t actually peel!
This AHA facial also stimulates the production of collagen giving you a fantastic all over glow! You may experience mild, transient redness in the treated area, following your facial Peel but this will normally have settled before leaving the clinic.
What are TCA Skin Peels?
TCA stands for Trichloroacetic Acid. TCA’s can be used in different concentrations to suit individual skin requirements.
This Peel is highly effective for treating specific skin problems, and is carried out by medically trained professionals.
TCA is a non-toxic chemical which has been used to perform Skin Peels for over 30 years. Most commonly, we use this as a medium depth Peel. This may offer a dramatic improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, together with a greatly improved skin texture.
TCA can also prove to be highly effective on acne scarring, and pigmentation problems. Best results are achieved by following a course of treatments.
What happens during treatment?
Before treatment, a full skin assessment will be given to each individual client, to tailor a skin care programme that is suitable to your skin type, and to ensure that you receive the best possible results.
This consultation can take up to 30 minutes and is totally free of charge. You may need to be on a programme that requires you to prep your skin for 2 weeks prior to starting treatment. This is to ensure you receive the best possible results from your Peel treatment. All pre and post creams and lotions are provided as part of your package and on going care.
Treatment usually takes around 30 minutes during which time your skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepared. The Peel solution is applied evenly with a brush to the effected areas and will leave a slight tingling on the surface of the skin. The solution is left on the skin from 2 minutes initially, then increasing up to 5 minutes, depending on skin type.
A post Peel solution is then applied to rebalance your PH levels. This leaves the skin feeling fresh and rejuvenated, improving the texture and overall smoothness. It is highly recommended that you continue your facial care with specialized products, as advised. These will all be provided for as part of your package at no extra charge.
Are Chemical Skin Peels Dangerous to the Skin?
Chemical Skin Peels rarely cause complications as long as they are administered by a medical professional.
To avoid post-treatment complications you should wear a high factor sun protection cream, as the new skin will be sensitive. You should also keep your skin moisturised and avoid pulling or picking at peeling skin. If you notice any prolonged redness or discolouration, then please call Rebecca at The Green Room immediately.
What can I expect after my Skin Peel?
With all types of Peels, you can expect a smoother, brighter complexion. With lighter peels, the results can be immediate.
If you have a stronger formulation, your treatment may last between 4-6 weeks. You might not see any results until after the treatment has finished but you can expect your skin to peel during this time, and you must protect your skin from the sun.
- Slight heat in the skin for a couple of hours after the treatment
- Tightening of the skin
- Skin shedding from approx day 3 – for 3 to 4 days – please note this is not the case with the AHA – only the TCA will cause the skin to shed
- Stay out of the sun for a minimum of two weeks
- Wear a high Sun Protection Factor of at least 30 for a minimum of two weeks
